Job description
Welder's HelperThis candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. This position is responsible for assisting the lead welder in joining metal parts, filling seams and holes of metal components, inspecting equipment and structures, and following and maintaining knowledge of safety protocol. This position reports to the Shop Manager but functionally to the Lead Welder.Use electricity and torches to produce heat and solder together components made from steel, titanium, copper, and other metalsAssist the lead welder in welding small components used in the day to day operationsAssess equipment, structures, materials, and job specifications for appropriate welding positions and methodsFollow established job-site safety and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work areaIdentify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazardsCoordinate and follow direction from Lead Welder for efficient operationsMonitor the work environment for hazards and maintain healthy ventilation levels to avoid particle or gas inhalationOperate specialized machinery for industrial weldingTake apart and disposes of large metal objectsRegular attendance at the worksite is requiredHigh School diploma or equivalentMust be highly motivated and able to work independentlyOperate necessary tools and equipmentAbility to work overtime as necessaryAbility to work with respect and cooperation at all times with fellow employees and customersMust be committed to working safely at all timesMust occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.Frequent sitting, talking and hearingUse of hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controlsReach with hands and armsWalk short distances, sometimes over uneven terrainAble to work in changing climate conditions if neededSafety of our employees is a key priority of Horizontal, thus the company must ensure that applicants are physically able to perform certain essential functions of the Welders Helper position.
