(Terms and conditions apply). This position is responsible for operating welding and manufacturing equipment to build high quality parts, subassemblies, and finished product. Weldments vary in type, size, and direction and are performed on a variety of production lines.What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities) While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:Operate an overhead crane to maneuver parts safely into placeAdjust welding leads, current, feed, and gas to proper weld configurationsCuts and forms metal parts and components using hand tools, torch or welding equipmentWelds components in flat, vertical or overhead positionsAccurately operate and read measuring devicesAssemble and weld various metal parts togetherProperly position material/parts to be weldedTrain and work in various areas of production in response to production demandsFollow verbal and written work instructions including ability to read drawing printsAttention to detail necessary to adhere to quality standardsMaintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulationsWork in both team and individual settingsOther duties as assigned.What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education) To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.High school diploma or general education degree (GED)3+ years of welding experience in a manufacturing environment, preferredExperience with sheet metal fabrication, punching, shearing, cutting, forming, and assemblyAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memosAbility to write simple correspondenceAbility to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations with other employees of the organizationAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsPHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
