Job description

WelderThe Welder is responsible for general welding, fabrication, repair, and maintenance of Deep Well Services' operational fleet, equipment, and facilities. This position performs repairs, equipment improvements, structural modifications, and new equipment fabrication in support of shop and field operations.The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to safely perform welding and fabrication work in accordance with company procedures and quality standards.Candidates may be considered at different Welder levels based on prior welding experience, demonstrated skill set, and competency.Why Choose Deep Well Services?Medical, Dental, Vision, and Voluntary Benefits401(k) PlanCareer growth opportunitiesCompetency-based training and advancement programsQuarterly bonus opportunitiesOn-the-job trainingPaid travel and training when applicablePPE providedWellness programs, including telehealth and Employee Assistance ProgramDiscounted gym membership ratesDutiesAdhere to all shop policies, procedures, and requirements within the Deep Well Services Quality Management System.Perform general welding repairs, modifications, improvements, and fabrication on oilfield service equipment.Perform fabrication work for new equipment and structural components as assigned.Visually inspect equipment and fabricated components to identify defects, damage, improper performance, or deficiencies.Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, measurements, and fabrication specifications.Perform DWS prequalified welds using GMAW, FCAW, and SMAW welding processes.Perform TIG and MIG welding when required based on job scope and demonstrated qualification.Fabricate and repair carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other materials as applicable.Operate welding machines, grinders, cutting equipment, saws, torches, and other shop tools safely and efficiently.Operate company equipment as required, including forklifts and telehandlers, when properly trained and authorized.Perform large repair and fabrication projects with minimal supervision.Coordinate with field personnel regarding equipment repairs, modifications, and operational needs.Assist with troubleshooting mechanical and structural equipment issues.Work with the Quality Manager to execute applicable nonconformance procedures and corrective actions.Maintain accurate documentation related to fabrication, repairs, inspections, and quality requirements.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.Follow all Deep Well Services safety policies and procedures.Perform field welding, fabrication, or repair support as operationally required.Perform other duties and projects as assigned by management.Skills & AbilitiesStrong welding and fabrication skills.Ability to perform GMAW, FCAW, and SMAW welding processes.TIG and MIG welding experience preferred.Stainless steel and aluminum welding experience preferred.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, measurements, and specifications.Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of fabrication techniques.Ability to identify weld defects, equipment damage, and fabrication deficiencies.Ability to safely operate welding, cutting, grinding, and fabrication equipment.Ability to operate forklifts and telehandlers when properly trained and authorized.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Ability to perform repair and fabrication projects with limited supervision.Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Ability to communicate effectively with shop, field, Quality, and operational personnel.Ability to adapt to changing priorities and operational demands.Ability to work safely under pressure and meet project deadlines.EducationHigh School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Equivalent relevant work experience may be considered.ExperienceMinimum of some verifiable welding and fabrication experience required.Candidates may range from entry-level to experienced, with approximately 3+ years of verifiable welding and fabrication experience preferred for higher technician levels.Experience with the following is preferred:Oilfield service equipmentStructural fabricationEquipment repair and modificationGMAW weldingFCAW weldingSMAW weldingTIG weldingMIG weldingStainless steelAluminumBlueprint interpretationIndustrial or heavy-equipment fabricationOther RequirementsMust maintain a valid driver's license.Must meet and maintain minimum company driving requirements for insurance purposes.Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check.Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen.Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical.Must be able to travel approximately 25% as operationally required.Must be able to work evenings, weekends, extended hours, and on-call assignments when required.Must be able to safely operate company vehicles and equipment when properly trained and authorized.Must comply with all Deep Well Services safety, quality, and operational policies.Physical RequirementsAbility to successfully complete a pre-employment physical.Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work in various positions required for welding and fabrication.Ability to lift and handle welding equipment, tools, components, and fabrication materials as required.Ability to perform repetitive welding, grinding, cutting, and fabrication tasks for extended periods.Ability to safely work around heat, sparks, welding fumes, noise, and industrial equipment.Ability to work in both shop and occasional field environments.Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions as required.Ability to wear all required PPE.
