Production WorkerHollister Whitney - Quincy, Illinois Position Type: Full-Time, PermanentPosition SummaryHollister-Whitney, a leading manufacturer of elevator components and systems, is seeking a skilled welder to join our manufacturing team in Quincy, Illinois. This position is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and welding a variety of elevator components and related products in accordance with engineering drawings, quality standards, and safety requirements.The ideal candidate will possess strong welding skills, the ability to read blueprints, and a commitment to producing high-quality work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Successful candidates will demonstrate attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a dedication to workplace safety.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesReading and interpreting blueprints, work orders, engineering drawings, and specifications.Setting up and operating welding equipment to fabricate and assemble metal components.Performing MIG, TIG, and other welding processes as required.Preparing materials for welding through cutting, grinding, fitting, and alignment.Welding components in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions as required.Inspecting completed welds to ensure compliance with quality and workmanship standards.Using measuring devices such as tape measures, calipers, squares, and gauges to verify dimensions.Operating hand tools, power tools, grinders, and other fabrication equipment safely and effectively.Identifying and correcting welding defects and reworking parts as necessary.Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area.Following all company safety procedures, quality standards, and manufacturing processes.Assisting with continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements.Performing other duties as assigned.QualificationsRequiredHigh school diploma or equivalent.Previous welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.Experience operating welding and fabrication equipment.Ability to use measuring instruments and perform basic shop math.Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work throughout the shift.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.PreferredAWS Welding Certification.Experience with MIG and TIG welding.Experience working in a heavy manufacturing environment.Forklift and overhead crane experience.Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.Working ConditionsManufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, welding fumes, and moving equipment.Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding helmets, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed footwear.Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and repetitive motion throughout the workday.BenefitsMedical, Dental, and Vision InsuranceCompany-Paid Life InsuranceHealth Savings Account (HSA)401(k) with Company MatchPaid Time Off (PTO)Paid HolidaysTuition ReimbursementEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Career Development and Advancement OpportunitiesPosition DetailsFull TimeNew starting rate of $20.00-$29.00 plus additional increases!1st shift hours vary between 7:00 am – 5:30 pm CST (8, 9 or 10-hour shifts)Quincy, ILEqual Employment OpportunityHollister-Whitney and Vantage Elevation are equal opportunity employers.
