Harbinger: Familiar Form, Revolutionary Foundation.Role OverviewThe Sales Engineer will serve as the technical-commercial bridge between our customers, dealers, sales teams, engineering, and external upfit partners—ensuring every vehicle is delivered with the right body, equipment, and configuration based on Harbinger's specifications and customer needs. This person will be the internal expert on upfit compatibility, application mapping, and configuration guidance—helping customers and dealers confidently select the right solution while ensuring feasibility, compliance, and scalability.Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer & Dealer EnablementServe as the primary upfit subject-matter expert for customers and dealer partnersConsult with customers to understand use cases, duty cycles, and operational requirementsRecommend appropriate upfit solutions that align with Harbinger vehicle specs and performance parameters which includes providing technical guidance on how to power their hotel loads.Support sales teams with technical guidance during the sales processProvide battery integration guidance for upfits that wish to install the Harbinger stand alone battery pack.Upfit Strategy & StandardsDefine and maintain approved upfit configurations, compatibility guidelines, and best practicesBuild scalable frameworks for common customer applications (e.g., delivery, service bodies, refrigeration, utility, specialty builds)Develop configuration rules, constraints, and documentation to guide quoting and orderingPartner & Vendor CollaborationWork closely with third-party upfitters, body manufacturers, and equipment vendorsEvaluate new upfit partners and solutions for compatibility and scalabilitySupport partner onboarding and training effortsCross-Functional CollaborationPartner with Engineering, Product, and Manufacturing to ensure upfit feasibilityCommunicate customer-driven requirements back into product roadmapsSupport homologation, safety, and regulatory compliance where applicableProcess & Tools DevelopmentBuild repeatable workflows for upfit selection, validation, and approvalCreate internal and external documentation, playbooks, and enablement materialsSupport development of digital tools for configuration, quoting, and order managementContinuous ImprovementTrack field feedback, warranty data, and customer satisfaction related to upfitsIdentify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvementRecommend new standardized solutions based on market demandQualificationsRequired6–10+ years of experience in commercial vehicles, upfitting, body equipment, fleet solutions, or related fields3+ years of systems engineering experience is a plusCapable of opening 3D files and viewing themStrong understanding of upfits such as box bodies, service bodies, refrigeration units, liftgates, cranes, racks, specialty equipment, etc.Experience working with dealers, OEMs, or fleet customersAbility to translate technical requirements into clear customer-facing guidanceStrong project management and stakeholder coordination skillsExcellent written and verbal communicationWillingness to travel ~33%.PreferredExperience in electric vehicles, alternative powertrains, or emerging mobility platformsFamiliarity with vehicle integration, electrical systems, weight distribution, and load constraintsExperience building standardized product or configuration frameworksPrior experience supporting enterprise or fleet customersWhat Success Looks LikeCustomers receive the right upfit the first time—reducing rework, delays, and confusionDealers feel confident selling and configuring Harbinger vehiclesSales cycles shorten due to clearer guidance and standardized optionsFewer engineering escalations due to well-defined compatibility rulesA scalable upfit ecosystem that grows with Harbinger's volumeKey Benefits & Perks: Comprehensive Health, Dental & Vision (HDV) – 100% employee covered Early-stage Stock Options Robust Retirement Savings (401k, HSA, FSA) Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) & Parental Leave Annual Vacation Bonus Wellness & Fertility Benefits Cell Phone Stipend Complimentary Meals & Stocked KitchensCalifornia Pay Range$120,000 - $150,000 USD
