Job description

Wholesale Sales Lead — Specialty Coffee

Queen City Coffee Roasters | North/Central NJ + NYC Metro | Full-Time

$70,000–$90,000 base + uncapped commission | On-target earnings ~$115,000+

About Us

Queen City Coffee Roasters is a family-owned specialty coffee company, growing fast but still run the way a family business runs: decisions made quickly, everyone close to the work, no layers of bureaucracy between you and the people who can say yes. We’re looking to bring on career professionals who want to help build something at this stage of growth — not just fill a seat.

We have café locations in Plainfield, Clifton, and Summit, NJ — and a fourth location opening in Brooklyn. We roast everything in-house and supply ~50 wholesale partners across North/Central NJ and the NYC Metro, from cafés and restaurants to offices and specialty retailers.

We hold ourselves to high standards on green coffee sourcing and roast using carefully created profiles to bring out the best qualities of each coffee we source, backed by a meticulous quality control protocol from bean to cup. Our mission is bringing high-end specialty coffee to everyday consumers in an approachable way — not gatekept, not intimidating.

Here’s the honest pitch: our wholesale business was built almost entirely on inbound demand and word of mouth — and that demand is high and growing fast, even with no one actively selling it. We’ve never had a dedicated salesperson, which makes this a great place for a commission role like this to start from: you’re not creating demand from zero, you’re the first person here to actually chase it down. You would be employee-one in sales, with a proven product, an established roasting operation behind you, real operational support, and a wide-open territory. You won’t inherit a playbook. You’ll write it.

You won’t be building it alone, though: our CEO and Director of Operations are hands-on and will jump into deals to help you close when it counts, and we already have a production roaster/equipment technician keeping quality and output on track, with delivery routes already established. Leadership is just as invested in making sure our operations can scale with the growth you bring in — this role is about selling, and we’ll grow the wholesale team further as it does.

What You’ll Do

Own the wholesale revenue line: prospecting, pipeline, pricing (within approved tiers), closing, and growth of existing accounts

Hunt net-new recurring accounts — cafés, restaurants, offices, hotels, grocery/specialty retail, caterers — across North/Central NJ and the NYC Metro

Run a disciplined outbound motion: target lists, sampling and cuppings, proposals, and a clean CRM

Convert occasional buyers in our existing account base into weekly standing orders

Work directly with the CEO and our Director of Operations; hand off signed accounts to our operations team so you can keep hunting

Feed market intelligence back into our roasting and product decisions (SKUs, formats, private label, cold brew)

What We’re Looking For

Must-haves:

2–5+ years of outbound B2B sales in specialty coffee, foodservice, beverage distribution, or adjacent CPG — you’ve carried a quota and closed recurring-revenue accounts from cold

An existing network in the North/Central NJ + NYC Metro café, restaurant, or office-services market — this is one of the highest-value things you can bring on day one

Pipeline discipline: CRM hygiene, weekly activity metrics, forecast accountability

Ability to talk coffee credibly with a café owner — or the drive to get there fast through training with our head roaster

Self-directed. This is a build role, not a maintain role.

Nice-to-haves:

An existing book of business

Experience selling office coffee programs or private label

Spanish or Arabic language skills

Valid driver’s license and comfort covering a regional territory

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $70,000–$90,000 depending on experience

Uncapped commission on new account revenue, paid monthly — on-target earnings ~$115,000, with real upside beyond that for a strong hunter

Quarterly bonus for hitting new-account targets

Mileage/travel reimbursement, sampling budget, and the tools you need to sell

Health benefits and paid time off

A seat at the table as we scale — you’d be employee-one in sales at a company committed to growth

Our interview process is simple: a conversation with our CEO and Director of Operations.

Queen City Coffee Roasters is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
