We are builders at heart, working to ensure the built environment has a lasting positive impact.Project Name: Wake Repower Wind Project Project Location: Floydada, TX 79235Mortenson is currently seeking an ironworker that will be responsible for marking, positioning, and securing structural steel members to reinforce concrete or building structures.Responsibilities:Set up, flag, and inspect a crane; inspect rigging properlyCheck in truck deliveries against bill of lading; direct forklift/crane to unload delivery truckCounting bars and bundles of rebar, dobies, and wire meshDirecting forklift/crane to unload delivery truckShake out rebar, distribute/organize accordingly; use pliers to tie rebar intersections with tie wireSplicing mats or rebar sections together with short rebar dowelsUnderstanding building codes/requirementsCut excess rebar ends and miscellaneous pieces with gas cut saw or cutting torchInstall mechanical rebar splices by bolting or welding ends together; install caps on vertical rebar dowels for safety ; install rebar dowels into fresh concrete footingsDetermining number, size, shape, and location of reinforcing rods from blueprints, sketches, or oral instructionsBending steel rods with hand tools or rodbending machineReinforcing concrete with wire meshReceive and offload all major components; install loose components for nacelle, hub, and tower preparationConnect blades to hub; set base and tower sections; handle taglinesClimb ladders (average 80m)Involved with main erection crane assembly and teardownOrnamental Ironworker: installing prefabricated ornamental ironworkEffectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levelsAll other duties as assignedQualifications:High school diploma or GEDOne (1) year of related experience preferredEquipment certifications as requiredCurrent driver's licenseStrong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail orientation; active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedbackAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; knowledge of equipment and their uses; understand and apply basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, division, & multiplication); ability to work independentlyRepetitive hand, arm, leg movements*Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbsPlease note: this position description is not intended to be a comprehensive list of the duties and responsibilities of the position.
