Job description

Inpatient OB/GYN Advanced Practice Providers (Locum Tenens) Northern New Jersey Region (Union County)

Massive Regional Need for 6 Full-Time APPs 24/7 Coverage Model First Assist Required for NPs

Are you an acute care or women's health advanced practice clinician looking for a high-yield, long-term inpatient engagement? A prominent regional medical center in eastern Union County is launching an extensive inpatient obstetrical staffing initiative. The department has an immediate, ongoing need for six full-time Advanced Practice Providers (NPs or PAs) to anchor their 24/7 labor and delivery decks, postpartum units, and gynecological surgical services. This role offers incredible scheduling versatility, zero on-call commitments, and a collaborative team environment.

The Opportunity Step into a vital, multi-disciplinary hospital role working alongside an attending OB/GYN physician and a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) on every single shift.

Clinical Scope: Provide comprehensive, round-the-clock clinical management across the full continuum of maternal-child health and inpatient gynecology. Core responsibilities include:

Labor & Delivery Focus: Serving as a primary engine on the L&D deck, triage bays, and cross-covering emergency OB/GYN consultations as called.

Surgical First Assisting: Functioning as the dedicated surgical first assist on all scheduled and emergent Cesarean sections and gynecological surgeries (acting in place of a resident when required).

Postpartum & Floor Care: Conducting clinical rounds, executing discharge clearances, and managing flowsheets for the 20-bed private-room Mother/Baby postpartum unit.

The Schedule: True 24/7 inpatient operation. Providers will work a structured, full-time schedule averaging 36 to 40 hours per week . The facility offers exceptional flexibility between 12-hour and 24-hour block shifts spanning Monday through Sunday (7:00 AM 7:00 PM / 7:00 PM 7:00 AM). There are no post-shift on-call ties .

The Volume: Dynamic and fluid inpatient volume. The hospital features state-of-the-art labor/delivery/recovery (LDR) suites and an advanced Level II Intermediate Care Nursery, drawing a highly diverse patient population from the surrounding metro area.

The Team Structure: You are never isolated. The coverage model ensures exactly one APP is active on the floor at all times, working hand-in-hand with an in-house OB attending and a dedicated midwife.

Location Highlights Located in a thriving, historic waterfront city in Union County, this facility offers an ideal home base for commuting or local living.

Immediate Transit Access: Unbeatable logistical positioning directly off the New Jersey Turnpike, Route 1&9, and the Garden State Parkway. It sits adjacent to Newark Liberty International Airport and features rapid rail connections placing Manhattan under 25 minutes away.

Rich Local Culture: Enjoy a vibrant urban-suburban mix featuring incredible international dining districts, extensive retail shopping at nearby premium outlets, and close proximity to beautiful county parks.

Compensation & Logistics Contract Structure: Premium, top-tier hourly locum compensation with robust built-in overtime protections and weekly direct-deposit payroll.

Assignment Timeline: Launching June 2026 and ongoing . This is an open-ended, long-term stability block.

Privileging: Fully supported, fast-tracked credentialing process. The medical center is equipped to grant full or temporary clinical privileges as soon as the onboarding packet is finalized.

Leadership Panel: Virtual interviews are being fast-tracked directly with the clinical nursing leadership team, including Maribeth Santillo and Mary McTigue.

Candidate Requirements Due to the immediate first-assist and high-acuity surgical demands of this active department, candidate submissions must strictly match the following parameters:

Licensure: Must hold an active, completely unencumbered New Jersey State Advanced Practice License (NP or PA) at the exact time of submission.

Surgical Credentials for NPs: Nurse Practitioners must be formally certified in surgical first assisting, hold their Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) credential, and provide verified surgical case logs.

Surgical Credentials for PAs: Physician Assistants must demonstrate clear comfort and documented experience scrubbing into C-sections and GYN surgeries.

Availability: Submission preference is strictly given to providers who can commit to a full-time schedule (36 to 40 hours per week) on an ongoing basis.

If you are a skilled, surgical-certified OB/GYN Advanced Practice Provider looking for a premium inpatient role offering a robust full-time schedule and zero call in Union County, we invite you to apply.
