POSITION SUMMARY
The Workshop/Education Chair leads the planning, organization, and management of the chapter's educational programming, including workshops, seminars, and webinars. This role ensures small business owners and entrepreneurs in the local community have consistent access to high-quality, SCORE-branded educational content that supports SCORE's mission. The Workshop/Education Chair builds and maintains a workshop calendar, coordinates event logistics, and works closely with chapter leadership, volunteers, and district or regional staff to align local programming with broader SCORE initiatives.
This position is modeled on SCORE's Event Manager and Associate District Director (ADD) Education & Workshops roles, adapted for chapter-level use.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and organize workshops and educational events that align with SCORE's overall strategy and the needs of the chapter and local small business community.
Create and maintain a workshop calendar to ensure a consistent, predictable schedule of educational events throughout the year.
Coordinate event logistics, including venue selection and booking, presenter recruitment and scheduling, and preparation of materials.
Manage event marketing and promotion, in coordination with chapter marketing volunteers, to maximize attendance and community engagement.
Work with other chapter leaders and volunteers to support workshop execution, day-of logistics, and client engagement.
Ensure all workshops and materials adhere to SCORE branding and quality standards.
Record workshops as external events in SCORE Engage so that views and attendance can be accurately tracked.
Collaborate with district or regional leadership, including the Associate District Director for Education & Workshops, to align local workshops with broader SCORE initiatives and to draw on district-wide resources.
Where the chapter has a dedicated Event Manager, coordinate directly with that volunteer, who typically handles workshop creation in SCORE Engage, logistics, presenter assignments, marketing, and check-in processes.
Collect and review post-event feedback to identify opportunities to improve future workshop quality and relevance.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple events and deadlines at once.
Comfortable coordinating with volunteers, presenters, venues, and district/regional staff.
Familiarity with SCORE Engage, or willingness to learn, for event creation and tracking.
Working knowledge of SCORE brand standards, or willingness to apply chapter-provided templates and guidelines.
Clear written and verbal communication skills for marketing, presenter coordination, and volunteer collaboration.
Prior experience in event planning, adult education, or nonprofit programming is helpful but not required.
