Description
The Diagnostic Specialist I performs radiologic procedures, assists in the coordination of patient flow into and out of the x‑ray area, ensures supplies are available, is responsible for daily maintenance of equipment and organization of x‑ray films, and utilizes the PACS system to process films. The role includes registering x‑ray studies and patients in PACS and entering the system at completion of the study so billing can be performed.
Responsibilities
Performs diagnostic radiologic services by operating imaging equipment, operating other equipment/devices as appropriate, positioning patients, immobilizing patients as necessary, calculating exposure factors, practicing radiation protection, evaluating radiographs for technical quality, assuming care for physical and psychological needs of patients during examinations and procedures, and assisting physicians with imaging procedures.
Maintains patients' x‑ray imaging and coping as requested.
Performs clerical duties related to administrative activities of the clinical x‑ray area.
Assumes full responsibility for the assigned area.
Assumes responsibility for the x‑ray portion of quality assurance, complies with all federal and state regulations, and maintains daily equipment maintenance records.
May assist in scheduling vacation time and appropriate coverage of the area so clinical activity is not compromised.
Pursues ongoing continuing education opportunities.
Other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Graduate of an AMA‑approved radiography program.
One year minimum of experience taking radiographs is preferred.
NYS Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
Compensation
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $ – $56.753 hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses, incentive, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
