Job description
Yard WorkerYard workers are a crucial member of the Star Nursery team. It is their duty to maintain the upkeep and staging of plant material at the store. Some of their duties include offloading material from trucks, stocking them where they belong and performing general care for the plants while maintaining safe working conditions. The yard team is normally at the store early in the morning so that they are ready when the trucks come in.Job Description:Follows operations standards for safe operations, quality control, loss prevention, and plant care.Follows policies in the areas of operations techniques, materials usage.Loading and unloading plant materialOperating a forkliftProduct quality controlPlant maintenance (watering, cleaning, pruning)Stocking & LabelingStore upkeepReceiving, Stocking & Moving MerchandisePerforms other related duties as assignedSkills:Planning: an ability to think ahead and plan in short/ long term rangesThe ability to organize and manage multiple prioritiesProblem solving and problem resolution.Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsStrong team playerCommitment to company valuesAbility to follow directions as well as work independently to achieve goals and complete assigned tasksAbility to work outdoors in all types of weatherForklift experience (will train and in-house Certify for 18+ years of age)Qualifications:Honest and hard workingMust be able to work long hours (seasonal overtime available) in all types of weather conditionsMust be able to lift & move plant materialMust be able to pass a drug test (safety sensitive position)Authorization to work in the United StatesPhysical Aspects of the job:Frequently bending, twisting and rotating trunk, arms and legsStanding 100% of the time/walking 99% of the time/climbing 10% of the timeWorking with arms extended and bent constantlyFrequently moving parts and stock weighing up to 35 pounds, 10 to 50 feetOccasionally moving parts and stock weighing up to 50 pounds; pushing and pullingHand and finger dexterityHand and eye coordination
