Keep the Fleet Moving. Be the Expert Others Rely On.

Are you the technician everyone calls when no one else can figure it out? Do you enjoy diagnosing complex mechanical problems, solving challenges, and taking pride in keeping equipment operating at its best?

As a Yellow Iron, Heavy Equipment Technician at Coastal Waste & Recycling, you'll be one of the most experienced members of our Fleet Maintenance team, helping keep the trucks and equipment that power our business safely on the road every day.

At Coastal, our technicians aren't just mechanics—they're trusted experts who play a critical role in serving our customers and supporting our operations.

Your Role

You'll perform advanced diagnostics, complete complex repairs, mentor fellow technicians, and help maximize fleet reliability while maintaining the highest standards of safety and workmanship.

What You'll Do

Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, engine, transmission, steering, suspension, and air brake system issues.

Perform preventive maintenance inspections to maximize fleet reliability and minimize equipment downtime.

Repair and maintain refuse trucks, vocational vehicles, trailers, yellow iron, and other heavy equipment.

Utilize OEM diagnostic software and electronic testing equipment to troubleshoot equipment failures.

Perform welding, fabrication, cutting, and metal repairs using steel and aluminum welding equipment.

Inspect completed repairs to ensure equipment meets company safety standards, DOT regulations, and manufacturer specifications.

Mentor Diesel Technician B and Diesel Technician C team members by sharing technical knowledge and best practices.

Partner with Fleet leadership to identify repair priorities and recommend long-term maintenance solutions.

Accurately complete repair orders, inspections, maintenance documentation, and parts records.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following OSHA regulations and company safety standards.

Respond to emergency breakdowns and field repairs as operational needs require.

At Coastal, we win as a team. Our Yellow Technicians support one another, share knowledge, and do whatever it takes to safely return equipment to service and keep our operations running.

What You'll Bring

Five (5) or more years of heavy-duty diesel technician experience.

Medium/Heavy Truck Master ASE Certification.

Experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, transmissions, suspension, steering, and air brake systems.
