Job description
Job Duties
nProvides patient care and (new and recheck visits) and maintains patient documentation.
n*Performs and/or updates thorough histories.
n*Performs and/or updates thorough physical exam.
n*Order/coordinate neurodiagnostic testing.
n*Triages patient phone calls: discusses test results and follow up with patients.
n*Presents patient to physician in concise, complete, and thorough manner.
n*Documents in a timely manner patient visits and notes in a standard format, emphasizing completeness, thoroughness and reflected formulation of diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, patient education and follow-up.
nProvides patient/family education and follow up.
n*Organizes relevant educational materials from available sources and generates materials for patients/families.
n*Presents and reviews materials with patients in a timely, concerned, thorough, understandable, and empathetic manner.
n*Follow-ups with patients and their families to assure understanding and retention of material. Provide supplementary materials, as necessary.
n*Facilitates family conferences.
nOther duties may be assigned, such as inpatient evaluation or other program development.
nEducation and Experience:
n*Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
n*Certification and licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
n*Prefer experience in general neurology or internal medicine.
nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:
n*Strong organizational skills.
n*Ability to relate to and engender confidence among patients, staff and physicians.
n*Ability and desire to be self-directed in performance of duties and self-educating in areas of deficiency, without need for continuous direct supervision.
n*Congenial demeanor with excellent interpersonal communication skills in person and over the telephone.
n*Ability to analyze clinical situations, draw appropriate conclusions and institute appropriate measures with good reasoning and problem-solving abilities, and acute intellect.
n*Ability to work in a stressful environment without impairment of functions or judgment.
n*Physical ability to assist patients through an examination.
n*Patient centered, strong customer service orientation.
n*Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines and troubleshoot and resolve problems.
n*Ability to work independently, exhibit mature judgment and make sound decisions.
n*Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost judgment and discretion.
n*Proficiency with MS Office and electronic health record.
