Job description
Assistant CustodianCardinal Local Schools is tentatively seeking an Assistant Custodian at the elementary school. Qualifications include being of general good health and emotional stability, taking pride in personal appearance by being well-groomed and wearing appropriate apparel, possessing the ability to work cooperatively, function harmoniously, and communicate effectively with others, and having the qualities of initiative, responsibility, and reliability. A high school diploma or its equivalent, or custodial work experience is required. The ability to provide custodial services such as cleaning and basic maintenance is also necessary. Working conditions are determined by the Cardinal Local Board of Education in accordance with the OAPSE Master Contract.Report To: Manager of Operations and Head CustodianJob Goals:To maintain the school buildings and grounds in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of the buildings may be made at all times.To maintain the school buildings and grounds for reasons of safety and aesthetics so that the staff, students, and visitors are provided the best environment possible.To assist and support the head custodian in their efforts to provide aesthetically pleasing buildings and grounds for the community.Essential Performance Responsibilities:Responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the buildings and grounds according to board policies and system and building procedures.Properly assist in maintaining and caring for cleaning materials and supplies.Requisition, through the Head Custodian, the necessary supplies and equipment, including towels, tissue, soap, lightbulbs, etc.Assist in making repairs to the building, equipment, and grounds.Provides all necessary custodial services (sweeping, mopping, garbage disposal) for the upkeep of the building, grounds, and school programs in their assigned area.Have a working knowledge of all equipment, tools, cleaning supplies, maintenance supplies, and repair parts.Provide for the proper storage of all equipment, tools, cleaning supplies, maintenance supplies, and repair parts.Report observed unsafe conditions on school grounds to the Manager of Operations.Assist with the winter work program that provides for the removal of snow and ice from assigned walks and places ice melting chemicals on steps, sidewalks, and other traveled areas.Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations or designee.Terms of Employment: Salary, work year, and terms and conditions of employment as determined by the Cardinal Local Board of Education in accordance with the OAPSE Master Agreement.Evaluation shall be completed by the Director of Operations in accordance with the provisions of Cardinal Local Board of Education Policy and the OAPSE Master Agreement.
