Carpenter/CraftsmanThe New York office of Frost Productions is seeking highly motivated and experienced Carpenters/Craftsmen who are based in the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut) to work on a freelance basis.This position involves all phases of construction and finishing for custom, high-quality scenic elements, exhibits, cabinetry, and props.Position Responsibilities:Work in the Fabrication Shop located in Moonachie, NJ, producing and assembling materialsWork at venues throughout the city installing and striking materials as neededComplete construction in a variety of materials including, but not limited to: wood, metal, acrylic, and plastic laminates, in the shop and field as neededPainting, finishing, and graphics handling and applicationProblem solving through creative interpretation of drawings, renderings, and thumbnailsEnsure proper handling and packaging/crating of finished materials in the shop and field at all timesAvailability and willingness to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, holidays as neededPosition Requirements:5+ years of experience in construction and fabricationGeneral knowledge of Scenic Arts, stagecraft, and carpentryMust adhere to all shop safety, PPE, and MSDS protocolsAbility to read and interpret drawings/plans and execute those plans accordingly in the shop and fieldAbility to take a project from start to finish with minimal direction, and meet tight deadlinesExperience in the application of wood and scenic finishesComfortable and experienced using heavy machinery (i.e. boom lifts, forklifts), power tools, and shop machineryPunctuality, professionalism, and a positive, collaborative attitude when working with clients and co-workersPreferred Qualifications:Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.Comfortable driving large vehicles (16' to 24' box trucks – CDL not required)Comfortable working at heightsWelding experienceTo apply please send your resume and cover letter to with the title of the job you are applying for in the subject line.Frost Productions provides high-end, full-service production solutions to the special events market.
