Per diem lactation consultant. Preferred availability includes some weekends and off shift.
Job Summary
The Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) reports to the Regional Director of Women’s Health. They will provide support, education and information regarding breastfeeding to patients and families. They will assist patients with the establishment of lactation, identify and aid in resolution of breastfeeding difficulties, develop care plans with staff to meet patient’s individual needs, and provide follow-up through phone calls or private consultations in an inpatient or outpatient setting. They also provide information and education regarding breastfeeding to all appropriate staff and assist in the development of policies and protocols, working collaboratively with the members of the lactation team at Backus Hospital as well as throughout the system.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
One (1) year experience as International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
Current unrestricted license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut
Current certification as International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
Multilingual preferred
