This is your chance to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our organization and building a strong foundation for success.SUMMARY Under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Certified Weld Inspector (CWI)/Weld Engineering Technician's primary function will be to support welding functions and authorize production after successful weld inspection. The Weld Engineering Technician will perform duties including the inspection of First Article (FA) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) products with the associated reporting. The Weld Engineering Technician will work to ensure that the products shipped meet the expectations of the customer and are delivered right the first time including any of the associated identification and documentation requirements. Duties will also include efforts to maximize weld productivity utilizing various weld processes and equipment.HOURS: This is a 2nd shift position with the hours of Monday - Thursday: 3:00pm - 1:00am.WHAT YOU'LL DOConducts D1.1 and D1.3 testing for new hires or the recertification of welders as neededParticipate in the creation of welding procedures and welding techniques standardizing welding to D1.1 and D1.3 specificationsParticipates in the selection of new welding equipment in conjunction with the weld council and participates in welding equipment calibration and preventative maintenance activitiesProvide support as a Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) as required to verify, validate and approve weldingWeld training specificationsWeld equipment specifications and implementationResponsible for the ongoing calibration of welding equipment as identified in the Calibration SystemParticipates in the weld audit process to verify that the welding procedures are as specified and are qualified, and that welding is performed as required to the applicable procedure.Partner with the supervisory team to identify welders who need specific training or upskilling.Provide necessary assistance to welders who do not meet minimum quality and efficiency requirements so they again meet/exceed quality and efficiency levelsMaintain records, inspection results, and welder performance documentationEvaluates new developments in the industry for possible application to processes.Work independently with little supervision while still delivering excellent results on time.WHAT YOU'LL BRINGHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus an additional one (1) year of formal preparationMust be an American Welding Society (AWS) CWIExperienced in stainless, aluminum and mild structural steel welding with a solid understanding of metal fabrication concepts and processes and explicit knowledge of our welding, principles/ practices/equipmentAbility to read and interpret blueprintsStrong verbal and written communication, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and managementDetail oriented, with exceptional problem-solving, planning, and organizational skillsProficient at working well under pressure, multitasking and prioritizingMust be able to navigate in a Windows based computer environmentExperience with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and WordWillingness to work flexible hours with a changing work schedule as needed to support production12 Expected Behaviors of Actively Engaged Person – 100% Responsible, Trustworthy, Team Player, Clear Communicator, Empathy, Humility, Emotional Self-Control, Resolves Conflict Directly, Positive Attitude, Respects Others, Problem Solver, and Agile.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This will be an onsite position in Union, Ohio. Occasional travel may be required, approximately 10%.
