Chip Box Equipment OperatorPosition at VSS International, Inc."OUR PEOPLE ARE OUR STRATEGY"We are in need of Chip Box Equipment Operator for our VSS International, Inc. This opportunity is in Monterey County contingent upon being awarded the project.The ideal candidate will be a safe, hardworking, team-oriented person who is ok with working outdoors on road construction crews.General DutiesOperate and control the chip box during chip seal operations Ensure uniform distribution of aggregate across the treated surfaceMonitor chip spread rates and adjust gates, speed, and flow as directedCoordinate closely with distributor truck operator and crew to maintain alignment and coverageMaintain safe distance and spacing from distributor truck at all timesCommunicate effectively with crew regarding adjustments, stops, or issuesPerform daily inspections of chip box equipment and report mechanical issues Assist with loading aggregate into the chip boxFollow all jobsite safety protocols, traffic control procedures, and company policies Assist with general crew duties when not operating equipment Maintain cleanliness of chip box and related equipmentQualificationsMust have good communications skills both written and verbal to interact with internal and external drivers and customers.Must possess the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects utilizing organizational skills and communications skills.Strong sense of responsibility regarding timely and accurate completion of work, and a strong commitment to company goals.Must be capable of functioning under fast paced stressful working conditions within live trafficPrior pavement preservation experience is requiredAFFIRMATIVE ACTION STATEMENT:Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States.We are proud to be an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer, and consider qualified applicants without regard to race, color, creed, religion, ancestry, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, veteran status or any other protected factor under federal, state or local law.
