Job description
Job Description Job Description Lead day-to-day safety oversight for contractor crews on an industrial construction assignment in El Paso. This role calls for hands-on field judgment, clear English/Spanish communication and the ability to hold contractors from other employers accountable to the site safety program. Pay is $30-$40 per hour, based on verified job-related qualifications and experience.
What you will do
• Lead documented site walks, pre-task planning reviews and practical coaching with contractor supervisors and crews.
• Identify hazards, put immediate concerns through the site's stop-work and escalation process, and track corrective actions to verified closure.
• Review contractor safety documents and support site-specific orientation and toolbox talks in English and Spanish.
• Coordinate safety controls for excavation, fall protection, confined-space entry, hot work and other permitted activities within the site's assigned roles and procedures.
• Help manage LOTO and hazardous-energy handoffs as construction moves into testing and commissioning. Coordinate with the responsible authorized and qualified personnel on energized-work permits, approach boundaries and changing control ownership.
• Document incidents and near misses, support root-cause review, and provide clear reports on field activity, findings, open actions and closure evidence.
• Keep records in the project reporting tools. Procore experience is preferred; comparable construction safety reporting experience is relevant.
Required for this assignment
• At least five years personally leading safety on industrial, energy or heavy-civil construction projects. General construction experience alone does not establish this safety-leadership requirement.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction completion, with course/card evidence available for verification.
• Working English and Spanish sufficient to lead safety instructions, orientations and toolbox talks and check crew understanding.
• Current First Aid, CPR and AED credentials, subject to verification.
• Training and demonstrated field competence supporting competent-person responsibilities for excavation, fall protection and confined-space entry.
• Working command of NFPA 70E, energized-work permitting, approach boundaries and LOTO coordination.
• Experience holding contractor crews employed by others accountable to a controlling site safety program.
• Ability to work on site in El Paso once the assignment schedule and start date are agreed.
Helpful experience and credentials
• Power generation, substation, data-center or comparable industrial construction experience.
• Commissioning, startup, testing and turnover experience.
• Procore safety documentation and contractor prequalification workflows.
• CHST, ASP, CSP, progress toward ASP/CSP, or OSHA 500.
• Crane, rigging and signal-person familiarity.
