nPOSITION OVERVIEW
nThe Crime Victims Case Manager is responsible for direct service provision to victims of domestic violence. Direct services include individual and group trauma-informed counseling, criminal justice advocacy, information and referrals. Candidates must demonstrate sensitivity to issues related to domestic violence. The Case Manager will make all necessary linkages to community-based organizations and governmental agencies to provide appropriate referrals to address participants’ needs.
nThe NYC Family Justice Centers, operated by the NYC Mayor’s Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence, are multidisciplinary, one-stop service centers that bring together government agencies, legal service providers, community-based organizations, and other partners to provide coordinated, survivor-centered services to individuals experiencing domestic and gender-based violence.
nMAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
nnnConduct intakes and assess needs of survivors of gender-based violence including those who are victims of crime with a client centered and trauma-informed approach.
n
nnDeliver all identified services including safety planning, victim advocacy, crisis intervention, court accompaniment and advocacy, law-enforcement accompaniment and advocacy.
n
nnProvide information and referrals to appropriate legal services, social services, mental health services and other related services to meet the needs of clients.
n
nnBuild and maintain relationships with local social services, legal services, and law enforcement agencies.
n
nnParticipate in various local domestic violence committees and coalitions.
n
nnRegularly assess the safety and well-being of clients.
n
nnMaintain digital records of direct services provided to clients and submit monthly reports.
n
nnCommunity outreach and education about services available for victims of crime and domestic violence.
n
nnParticipate in training seminars conducted to enhance and develop clinical skills with the client population.
n
nnAttend monthly individual case supervision, group supervision, monthly case conferences, and staff meetings.
n
nnOther duties as requested based on department, program and/or organizational needs.
n
n nSPECIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
nnBachelors’ degree in Human Services required.
n nREQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
nnnPassion for URI’s mission, vision and core values with the ability to communicate this passion to others.
n
nnTwo (2) years of case management experience preferred victims of domestic violence.
n
nnStrong commitment to equity and social justice including a focus on self-awareness and engagement of continuous learning around issues of diversity equity and inclusion; high level of Emotional Intelligence (EQ).
n
nnDemonstrated sensitivity and experience with and/or knowledge of domestic violence within and against disenfranchised communities including individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and/or HIV-affected, the elderly and individuals with mental health issues.
n
nnMust possess a demonstrated ability in delivering client services including communication and listening skills, understanding of human interaction and personality development, the ability to write and record case documentation, and demonstrated skills in group counseling.
n
nnStrong organizational skills that reflect an ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly.
n
nnExceptional interpersonal, critical thinking, communications and written skills, and the ability to develop positive and productive relationships.
n
nnExcellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.).
n
nnHighly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently.
n
nnProven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response.
n
nnDemonstrated ability to achieve high-performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
n
nnMust have the ability to be flexible with work schedule due to program needs.
n
nnAcknowledge and application of self-care and work-life balance for self and others.
n
n nSPECIFICATIONS FOR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
nnnWork schedule includes four days working in the office and one day working from home, with the remote day serving as the on-call day.
n
nnFlexibility is required to meet on-site demands throughout the week.
n
nnWill be required to read printed and handwritten materials.
n
nnWill be required to manipulate the computer mouse and keyboard.
n
nnWill be required to read information on computer screen.
n
nnMust be able to sit for extended periods of time.
n
nnMust be able to enter information in digital forms and spreadsheets.
n
n nSALARY: $50,000yr - $53,000/yr
