Direct Support Professional (DSP)Are you looking for a job where you can have fun, stay active, and make a difference in someone's life?MYEP's Adult Day Program is looking for caring, energetic, and dependable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support adults with disabilities in a recreation-based, community-focused program in Iowa City.As a DSP, you'll help participants build independence, develop friendships, learn new skills, and engage in activities throughout the community. No two days are exactly the same. You might spend the morning visiting a local museum, library, or park and the afternoon helping with a cooking group, art project, game, or fitness activity. Activities regularly include swimming, bowling, pickleball, volunteer opportunities, community events, cooking classes, music groups, arts and crafts, gardening, and outings throughout Johnson County.ResponsibilitiesSupport adults with disabilities during community outings and on-site activitiesAssist with personal care and daily living needs when requiredEncourage independence, social engagement, and skill developmentProvide behavioral and emotional support as neededBuild positive relationships with participants, families, and coworkersComplete progress notes and required documentationReport health, safety, and behavioral concerns to supervisorsHelp create a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participantsWhat We're Looking ForDependable and reliable attendanceStrong communication and interpersonal skillsPositive attitude and willingness to learnAbility to work independently and as part of a teamCompassion for people from diverse backgrounds and abilitiesAbility to remain calm and professional in challenging situationsMinimum RequirementsMust be at least 18 years oldHigh school diploma or GEDAbility to pass required background checksValid driver's license preferredAbility to assist with lifting and providing physical supports when neededSchedule:Monday-Friday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Flexible part-time shifts available.
