Job description
Dental AssistantThe Dental Assistant supports dentists and dental hygienists in delivering high-quality patient care by providing chairside assistance, preparing treatment rooms and materials, taking dental radiographs, sterilizing instruments, maintaining patient records, and promoting a positive patient experience. This role helps ensure efficient clinical operations while supporting HICHC's mission of providing accessible, comprehensive, and culturally sensitive healthcare services.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist dentists and hygienists during preventive, restorative, and oral surgery procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, supplies, and dental materials for patient care.Take and process dental radiographs as directed by providers.Maintain sterilization protocols and infection control standards in compliance with OSHA requirements.Document patient information, treatment notes, health histories, and consent forms in the electronic health record.Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and support preventive dental care initiatives.Maintain inventory of dental supplies and assist with laboratory procedures.Foster a welcoming, compassionate environment for patients and families.Support HICHC's Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model and interdisciplinary care approach.QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required.Previous dental assistant experience preferred but not required.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work effectively with children, adolescents, families, and diverse populations.Commitment to teamwork, professionalism, confidentiality, and excellent patient service.Ability to learn new skills, follow instructions, and maintain accurate records.Why Join HICHC?Join a mission-driven organization dedicated to improving community health through accessible, integrated, and culturally sensitive care while working alongside a supportive team committed to serving Hawai?i Island.
