nAllegheny Health Network's (AHN) Department of OB/Gyn is seeking a full-time Laborist (OB Hospitalist) to join a collaborative, patient-centered team in Pittsburgh. This role is ideal for an OB/GYN who enjoys a hospital-based practice, thrives in high-acuity and fast-paced settings, and values a strong team culture built on safety, quality, and communication.
nKey Responsibilities:
nnnProvide comprehensive care to obstetrical and gynecological patients in the hospital setting.
n
nnManage labor and delivery, including vaginal deliveries and Cesarean sections.
n
nnTriage patients and manage admissions, transfers, and inpatient evaluations.
n
nnEvaluate and manage obstetrical emergencies, including:
n
nnPostpartum hemorrhage
n
nnPreeclampsia
n
nnEclampsia
n
nnEvaluate and manage gynecological emergencies, including:
n
nnEctopic pregnancy
n
nnPelvic inflammatory disease
n
nnOvarian torsion
n
nnProvide consultation services to other medical specialties within the hospital.
n
nnPerform gynecological surgeries as needed, based on training and experience.
n
nnProvide postpartum care and education to new mothers.
n
nnCollaborate with nurses, midwives, and other healthcare team members to provide coordinated, comprehensive patient care.
n
nnCommunicate effectively with referring physicians and outside providers.
n
nnMaintain accurate and complete medical records, including documentation of:
n
nnPatient history
n
nnPhysical examination
n
nnDiagnosis
n
nnTreatment plan
n
nnProgress notes
n
nnProvide 24/7 in-house coverage, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as assigned.
n
n nAdministrative Responsibilities
nnnParticipate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.
n
nnParticipate in departmental meetings and continuing medical education activities.
n
nnAdhere to hospital policies and procedures.
n
nnSupervise and teach medical students and residents, as needed.
n
nnAssist with resident education and training.
n
n nQualifications:
nnnCompletion of ACGME approved Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency
n
nnBoard Eligible/Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology
n
nnDoctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)
n
nnLicensed in the state of Pennsylvania prior to employment
