Job description
Plumbing Installer Specialty Fire TrucksThis role focuses on installing and assembling plumbing systems on specialty fire trucks, ensuring all components are accurately fitted, securely connected, and thoroughly tested for safety and performance. You will work with a variety of pipes, valves, gauges, and fittings, using both hand and power tools, while meeting production goals and maintaining high quality standards.ResponsibilitiesInstall heat exchangers that are not already installed, including associated valves and related components.Install master drains to support proper drainage and system functionality.Install primer control systems to ensure reliable operation of pump priming functions.Install manual pump shift mechanisms for proper pump engagement and control.Install discharge lines and components on right and left rear locations and front bumpers.Install bleeder drains to allow controlled removal of air or fluid from the system.Connect plumbing lines to gauge panels to ensure accurate system monitoring.Perform self-checks on all completed work to verify quality, safety, and correct installation.Meet established production goals while maintaining high standards of workmanship.Cut and thread pipes using pipe cutters, cutting torches, and pipe threading machines.Bend pipes to the required angles using a pipe bending machine or by hand as needed.Join pipes using screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulk joints to create secure, leak-resistant connections.Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings, and pipes according to specifications and blueprints.Fill pipe systems with water or air and read pressure gauges to check for leaks and system integrity.Interpret and follow blueprints, diagrams, and instructions to complete installations accurately.Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively during all installation and assembly tasks.Collaborate with team members to coordinate work, support shared goals, and maintain a safe and efficient work area.Maintain consistent attendance and reliability to support production schedules and team performance.Essential SkillsProficiency with hand tools and power tools for plumbing installation and assembly.Plumbing experience, with a focus on installation and assembly of piping systems (experience preferred).Ability to read and interpret blueprints and diagrams.Experience with cutting and threading pipes using pipe cutters, cutting torches, and pipe threading machines.Ability to bend pipes using a pipe bending machine or by hand to specified angles.Skill in joining pipes using screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulk joints.Experience assembling and installing valves, pipe fittings, and pipes.Ability to fill pipe systems with water or air and read pressure gauges to identify leaks.Knowledge of plumbing for fire protection, drainage, boiler-related systems, and water systems.Experience working with PVC pipe and other common plumbing materials.Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with gauges and mechanical components.Strong motivation, work ethic, and readiness to work in a production environment.Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively with coworkers.Reliable attendance and demonstrated longevity in previous roles.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in plumbing fire protection systems is a plus.Experience in drainage and boiler-related plumbing work is beneficial.Familiarity with installation of specialized vehicle or equipment plumbing systems is advantageous.Comfort working with a variety of cutting tools, threading equipment, and gauges.Ability to maintain high attention to detail while meeting production goals.Willingness to learn, develop skills, and grow within a manufacturing or assembly environment.Why Work Here?This company maintains a military-friendly culture. The day shift team typically includes approximately 15-20 employees, while the night shift includes about 8-10 employees, fostering a collaborative and supportive team atmosphere. Standard hours are 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, providing a consistent four-day work week. The role involves frequent use of hand tools, power tools, cutting tools, pipe threading machines, pipe bending machines, and gauges, as well as working with PVC and other plumbing materials. The environment emphasizes safety, teamwork, and meeting production goals while maintaining high quality standards.Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Sioux Falls, SD.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $41,600.00 - $41,600.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Medical, dental and vision benefits start on day one.
