Job description

Gift Shop CoordinatorPosition Summary: The Gift Shop Coordinator oversees the daily operations of a small retail shop within Dunwoody Village, a premier continuing care retirement community located in Newtown Square, PA. This role focuses on providing a welcoming shopping experience for residents, staff, and visitors while managing inventory, sales, and merchandising. The coordinator ensures the shop meets the needs and preferences of an older adult population and contributes positively to the community atmosphere.Key Responsibilities:Manage day-to-day gift shop operations, including opening/closing proceduresProvide friendly, patient, and attentive customer service to residents and visitorsSelect, order, and maintain inventory tailored to resident interests (e.g., snacks, personal items, gifts, seasonal products)Monitor stock levels and manage vendor relationships and purchasingHandle sales transactions, cash register operations, and basic bookkeepingMaintain clean, organized, and visually appealing displaysRecruit and train volunteers or part-time staff (if applicable)Plan seasonal promotions and special events to engage residentsEnsure compliance with community policies and safety standardsQualifications:Previous retail or customer service experienceStrong interpersonal skills, with sensitivity to the needs of older adultsBasic math and cash-handling skillsAbility to manage inventory and maintain organized recordsDependable, patient, and service-oriented attitudeAbility to stand for periods and perform light liftingPreferred Skills:Experience working with seniors or in a healthcare/community settingFamiliarity with point-of-sale (POS) systemsCreative merchandising skillsWork Environment:Indoor retail setting within a retirement communityFrequent interaction with residents, families, and staffMay require flexible hours, including occasional weekends or holidaysPlease note we will only contact candidates who meet the above criteria; please no phone calls about the position.All job offers are contingent on successful completion of a criminal background check, satisfactory references, Influenza record, and drug screen.Dunwoody Village is an equal opportunity employer and affords equal opportunity to all applicants for all positions without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, pregnancy, veteran status, or any other status protected under local, state, or federal laws.Dunwoody Village is a thriving and friendly community -- come make a difference and join our team today!
