Job description

Street SweeperThis job will be accepting job applications until the position is filled.Annual Salary: $38,415.00 - $40,462.50Hourly: $19.70 - $20.75Department: Environmental Services, Public ServiceDivision: Street SweepingFLSA: Non-ExemptJob Description: In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and general appearance of City streets and sidewalks located in the City's Central Business District.Examples of Duties:Sweeps and cleans streets, sidewalks, and gutters using a Glutton street Vac or a shovel and push broom.Will be required to operate a Glutton Street vac.Removes debris and dirt from sewer grates and catch basins.When necessary, shovels snow and sand.When necessary, cleans litter from vacant lots around the city.May be required to drive a truck and pull a trailer to and from downtown to deliver the glutton street vac's to the job site.May be required to drive a City vehicle around downtown area to empty City-owned wastebaskets located on sidewalks.Performs other duties as assigned.Basic Qualifications:High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Valid South Carolina Driver's License.Employees in this position are required to work and walk outdoors in downtown CharlestonYou must be available to work one of the following shifts:Shift A: Mon. – Fri. 7:30 am – 3:30 pmShift B: Tues. – Sat. 3:30 pm – 11:30 pmOther Necessary Requirements:May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduledIn the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City's needsThe City of Charleston is firmly committed to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEOC) as a fundamental policy to be implemented and observed in our daily operation.
