Job description
Heavy Equipment OperatorUnder supervision, operates material handler, similar style to an excavator, as well as other Heavy Equipment including wheel loader and articulating dump truck. In a facility, unloading or loading trucks, semis, rail cars with material, sorting material in yard.Responsibilities:Unloads customer vehicles including small or medium trucks or semi-trailersSorts material in appropriate areasLoads trucks and rail cars with scrap materialEnsures torch cutter is supplied with material to torchInspects all loads according to yard standards, ensuring rail cars and semi-trailers are safe to leave the yardInspects all inbound/outbound materialGreases and changes oil on machine. Handles minor maintenance duties on the crane.Some hand sorting and labor also may be requiredOther responsibilities as assignedBenefits:Medical, Dental, Vision401K w/ employer matchHSA w/ employer matchPaid time offPaid holidaysSafety:Wears all necessary PPE when working in the yard. Follows company safety standards at all times. Failure to follow standards, may result in loss of position.Requirements:High school diploma or GED preferred but not required. Prior experience operating heavy machinery and driving a semi-tractor/trailer preferred but not required as we will train candidates. Basic machine maintenance knowledge a plus. Must be able to lift a minimum of 30-50 lbs and 100+lbs on 2-person lift.
