Employment Status: Full-Time (35+ hours) Part- Time (30+ hours)
Schedule: Monday to Friday (day hours)
nSalary: $18 / HR
Reports To: Program Supervisor / Meaningful Day Manager
Position Summary
nThe Independent Living Coach supports adults with disabilities in developing, strengthening, and maintaining the skills needed for greater independence and community inclusion. Through hands-on coaching, person-centered planning, and meaningful community engagement, the Coach empowers participants to build life skills, self-confidence, and personal goals within the Meaningful Day Program at The League for People with Disabilities.
nThis role plays a vital part in helping individuals live more self-directed, fulfilling lives while honoring dignity, choice, and individual abilities.
Key Responsibilities
nParticipant Support & Skill Development
nnnProvide direct, person-centered support to participants in individual and small group settings.

nnCoach participants in independent living skills such as:
nnnDaily living routines (hygiene, organization, time management)
n
nnMoney management and budgeting basics
n
nnCommunity navigation and transportation skills
n
nnCommunication, self-advocacy, and social skills
n
n n
nnSupport participants in identifying personal goals and celebrating progress and achievements.
n
n nMeaningful Day Programming
nnnAssist with planning and facilitating structured Meaningful Day activities focused on independence, wellness, and life skills.
n
nnEncourage participation in community-based activities, volunteer opportunities, and skill-building experiences.
n
nnPromote participant choice and self-direction in daily programming.
n
n nDocumentation & Compliance
nnnComplete required documentation accurately and on time (daily notes, progress updates, incident reports, etc.).
n
nnFollow all League policies, state regulations, and program guidelines.
n
nnObserve, document, and communicate changes in participant needs or behaviors to the supervisor.
n
n nCollaboration & Communication
nnnWork collaboratively with supervisors, interdisciplinary team members, families, and guardians as needed.
n
nnMaintain professional, respectful communication aligned with League values.
n
nnParticipate in team meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development.
n
n nHealth, Safety & Wellness
nnnSupport a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment at all times.
n
nnFollow health, safety, and emergency procedures.
n
nnAssist participants with basic health and wellness routines as outlined in individual plans (non-medical).

n Qualifications
nRequired
nnnHigh school diploma or GED required
n
nnExperience working with individuals with disabilities preferred
n
nnAbility to model and teach independent living skills
n
nnStrong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
n
nnAbility to pass required background checks and clearances
n
nnValid driver's license and ability to transport participants (if applicable)
n
n nPreferred
nnnAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Education, or related field
n
nnExperience in adult day programs, supported living, or community-based services
n
nnCPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
