Job Title: Inpatient Coder
Location (city, state): Remote – Must reside in FL, TN, TX, GA, LA, or WA
Industry: Healthcare / Health Information Management / Inpatient Coding
Pay: $35 – $40 / hr

About Our Client:
Our Client is a 900+ bed academic medical center offering highly complex patient care across numerous specialties, including cardiovascular, transplant, oncology, neurology, orthopedics, and digestive disorders.
Job Description:
Seeking an experienced Inpatient Coder with a strong background coding complex cases within a large academic hospital. This role requires excellent sequencing skills and experience across a broad range of inpatient specialties.
Key Responsibilities:
Code complex inpatient medical records with a strong focus on accurate sequencing
Code Med/Surg, cardiac procedures, surgeries, OB/moms & babies, transplants, orthopedics, neurology, gastroenterology, and oncology
Review approximately 2 charts per hour based on complexity/length of stay
Maintain approximately 95% coding accuracy with a strong emphasis on quality
Complete initial charts for auditor review and incorporate feedback before independent coding
Qualifications:
1+ year of inpatient coding experience
Experience coding within a large academic/teaching hospital strongly preferred
Strong sequencing knowledge required
Experience with complex surgical and specialty cases
AHIMA certification: CCS, RHIT, or RHIA
Epic experience preferred
Dolbey CAC experience helpful but not required; training available
Additional Details:
Full-time, 40 hours/week
Contract-to-hire
Set your own working hours but must establish and consistently maintain a schedule
1 opening due to growth
Panel interview
Short coding assessment required
Interviews and start date ASAP
Initial training includes 30 charts followed by auditor review; candidates reaching 85%+ will be released to code independently
Flu vaccination required or declination available
