Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located with the Directorate of Emergency Services, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA.
Responsibilities
Maintain a thorough knowledge of any an all National Fire Protection standards as well as all Department of Army and Department of Defense regulations.
Prepare facilities inspection and testing inspection schedules for all buildings that are tested by fire prevention and suppression personnel.
Conduct plan reviews for new construction and renovations of existing structures within the assigned area.
Serve as a leader for a group of Fire Inspectors.
Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Experience utilizing National Fire Protection Standards to identify fire protection and prevention requirements; 2) Conducting fire inspections on buildings, facilities, fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, hydrants and water systems, detector systems and other extinguishing systems; and 3) Developing, implementing, or providing training in fire protection and prevention. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTSPECIAL PLACEMENT FACTORS: In addition to meeting the experience requirement above, applicants must also possess the following below certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) in accordance with DoD 6055.06-M AND a State or National Registry EMT Certification indicating a future expiration date when applicable. To occupy this position at the time of appointment, you must possess and continue to maintain the following certification: Firefighter I Firefighter II Fire Instructor I Fire Inspector I Fire Inspector II Hazardous Materials Awareness Hazardous Materials Operations Airport Firefighter Public Fire and Life Safety Educator You MUST submit a copy of your certifications with your application package.
