Manufacturing Engineer | Carol Stream

Pay:
$36–$40/hour, depending on experience
Helion is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to join a metal manufacturing operation in Carol Stream, IL
You’ll work closely with production employees to understand how products are made, capture valuable process knowledge, and help improve quality and efficiency. This role is a strong fit for an early-career engineer who enjoys equipment, practical problem-solving, and working on the production floor.
What you’ll do:
• Observe and document manufacturing methods, equipment setups, and operating practices.
• Learn from experienced operators and translate their knowledge into clear work instructions.
• Support improvements involving metal forming, saw cutting, painting, and surface treatment.
• Investigate opportunities to reduce scrap, improve workflow, and make processes more consistent.
• Partner with production and tooling teams to test and implement improvements.
• Use AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar software to support drawings and manufacturing improvements.
What we’re looking for:
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial, chemical, or a related engineering discipline.
• Recent graduates and early-career engineers are encouraged to apply.
• Hands-on experience through internships, equipment repair, maintenance, manufacturing, construction, or mechanical projects.
• Working knowledge of CAD software.
• Curiosity, mechanical aptitude, and an interest in Lean manufacturing.
• A collaborative personality and respect for the experience of production employees.
This position involves substantial time on a non-air-conditioned production floor and occasional travel between facilities.
