As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will spend about 80% of your time on the production floor, tackling challenges head-on and proactively enhancing line efficiencies. You will be instrumental in tooling design, cost analysis, and driving continuous improvements. Your background in metal fabrication or powder coating will be invaluable as you work to refine product designs and ensure manufacturability.
You will gather and analyze data to develop cost structures, preliminary sketches, and schematic diagrams for tools, machines, and products. This includes creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manufacturing routings in BPCS, which are essential for smooth production processes. Your expertise will help develop and uphold engineering policies and procedures for BOMs, work centers, Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), and other critical processes.
In this role, you will provide design support that meets customer requirements while aligning products with cost-effective manufacturing processes. You will research materials and suppliers to identify optimal solutions that cater to customer needs, ensuring that proprietary concepts remain confidential while maintaining a clear distinction from customer-specific designs.
Collaboration is key in this position. You will work closely with the Machine Shop, Maintenance, Fabrication, and Finishing supervisors, as well as the Materials teams, to resolve any plant issues that arise. Additionally, you will review existing and new installations to recommend ergonomic best practices, enhancing the overall efficiency and safety of the workplace.
To thrive in this role, you bring a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (other engineering degrees may be considered, but Industrial Engineering is not preferred). With at least 2-3 years of manufacturing experience under your belt, you are ready to tackle the challenges that come your way.
