POSITION SUMMARY: The Marine Mechanic Technician A provides expert maintenance and repairs to vessels, marine equipment, and other response equipment.
nPRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
nnnExecution of mechanical maintenance, inspection and repair of all marine services and response equipment, such as gasoline and diesel marine engines, outboard motors, vessels, hydraulic power units, and related marine equipment and oil skimming systems.
n
nnInputs maintenance records into a preventive maintenance program for marine engines, vessels, skimming systems, hydraulic power units, and related marine equipment.
n
nnTests and diagnoses problems, disassembles units, repairs or replaces parts, and reassembles units.
n
nnPerforms routine maintenance and adjustments on equipment.
n
nnMaintains tools, equipment, and a clean work area that is organized and in good working condition.
n
nnCreates and maintains files related to equipment maintenance.
n
nnPrepares work orders and materials cost estimates.
n
nnParticipates in the on-call emergency response program.
n
nnOperates hand and power tools associated with marine engines, vessels, skimmers, hydraulic power units, and related marine equipment.
n
nnPerforms other, job-related duties as assigned.
n
n nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
nnn3-5 years of experience in marine engine maintenance and repair.
n
nnKnowledge of gasoline and diesel marine engines, outboard motors, vessels, hydraulic power units, and related marine equipment and oil skimming systems.
n
nnAbility to diagnose commonly occurring malfunctions.
n
nnKnowledge of welding practices and procedures.
n
nnDemonstrates, accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail.
n
nnMust be able to prioritize, stay focused and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.
n
nnRelevant certifications or licenses in marine mechanics or a related field are advantageous.
n
n nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
nnnValid driver’s license.
n
nn4 - 7 Years of overall relevant work experience.
n
n nPay Range:
nThe pay range for this position is $29.15 to $40.10* which reflects the minimum wage in multiple jurisdictions. The actual range will depend on the locality in which you are hired.

nSustainability Innovation
nRepublic’s recent innovations to advance circularity and decarbonization demonstrate our unique ability to leverage sustainability as a platform for growth.
nThe Republic Services Polymer Center is the nation’s first integrated plastics recycling facility. These innovative sites process rigid plastics from our recycling centers, producing recycled materials that promote true bottle-to-bottle circularity. We also formed Blue Polymers, a joint venture with Ravago, to develop facilities that will further process plastic material from our Polymer Centers to help meet the growing demand for sustainable packaging. We are building a network of Polymer Centers and Blue Polymer facilities across North America.
nOur customers are increasingly looking for decarbonization solutions, and we are leveraging our network of landfills to meet that need. Republic is committed to harnessing landfill gas, a natural byproduct of decomposing waste, and converting it to energy. Republic has partnered with renewable gas developers to construct Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) plants at our landfills, expanding beyond the 77 projects we currently have to make progress towards our goal to beneficially reuse 50% more biogas by baseline year).
