Medical Assistant Opportunity in Poughkeepsie, NYPride Health is hiring a Medical Assistant to support our client's medical facility in Poughkeepsie, NY (12601). This is a 3+ month contract assignment (convertible to permanent based on your work performance). And a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organisation!Specific Duties:Demonstrates clinical competence in the direct care of patients in established area(s) of practice and assists physicians with procedures.Performs clinical duties within scope of practice, complying with accepted departmental standards, policies, and protocols.Demonstrates a proactive approach to patient care, focusing on addressing each patient's individual and family needs at the time of service; communicates identified needs in a timely manner.Directs and/or escorts patients to exam rooms in a timely manner.Demonstrates clinical competence when assisting physicians, mid-level healthcare professionals, and/or nurses during exams and office diagnostic procedures or treatments.Performs authorized procedures competently (e.g., vital signs, vision screening, selected laboratory tests, EKGs, point-of-care testing) as directed by a physician or nurse in the clinical practice area.Seeks validation and guidance from physicians, mid-level healthcare professionals, and/or nurses when necessary.Prepares e-prescriptions for processing to pharmacies when instructed by a physician and in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.Inspects, cleans, prepares, and processes instruments and equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and established protocols.Processes specimens for transport to the laboratory, ensuring specimens are properly labeled and that appropriate orders have been entered into the electronic medical record system.Requirements:Minimum of 1 year of preferred experiencePrevious Family Medicine or Primary Care experience.Medical Assistant Certification from any National BoardHigh school graduate or GED equivalentCurrent BLS certification (through an approved American Heart Association Training Centre)What Skills/Attributes Are Nice To Have, And Will Set A Candidate Apart?Basic computer literacy required, with intermediate Excel skillsKnowledge of medical terminology requiredThe ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies is requiredGood communication and customer service skills requiredAt least one year of experience as a Medical AssistantAdditional Information:Location: Poughkeepsie, NY (12601)Job Type: 3+ months contract-to-hireSchedule: 5 days (Mon-Fri)Shifts: 8 AM – 5 PMPay Range: $20-$23/hr. on W2Equal Employment OpportunityPrideGlobal and it's affiliates are an equal opportunity employer.
