Mental Health Therapy AideJob Summary:Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Mental Health Therapy Aide is responsible in a support role for the care and treatment of psychiatric patients. The Mental Health Therapy Aide functions as a participating member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team and assists in the implementation of treatment plans. May perform a variety of tasks related to the care, nurturing, treatment, education, socialization, habilitation, recovery, healing, and support of individuals diagnosed with a mental illness. Incumbents support, instruct, and assist individuals in developing the necessary skills to attain personal goals, live, be educated, work, and socialize successfully in the community.Minimum Qualifications:The NYS Department of Civil Service has developed the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement (HELP) Program, Effective April 5th, 2023. During this program, the NYS Civil Service Exam requirements are suspended for the Mental Health Therapy Aide, SG09 title.For consideration for this title, you must meet all of the following minimum qualifications:1: Graduated from high school or have earned a high school equivalency diploma (such as a GED)Have one (1) year of full-time direct patient care experience working in a mental health setting.Preferred Qualifications:Work Days:VariousMessage to Applicants:Applications are accepted here for candidates that are interested in the Mental Health Therapy Aide, SG09 title at SUNY Upstate!Please be sure to review the minimum qualifications listed above to confirm you are eligible for consideration.
