Job Title: MICU Shift - Open Rank-Instructor, Sr. Instructor, Assistant, Associate, Professor

Position # – Requisition #38290

Job Summary

The Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine islooking for board certified or board eligible Pulmonary/CriticalCare physicians who will perform clinical services (pulmonary orcritical care) on an as-needed basis, fee-for-services on theMedical ICU night shift.

Key Responsibilities

Inpatient evaluation and management of acute and critically ill patients with complex medical and pulmonary diseases.

Staff the Medical Intensive Care Unit and/or Medical Surgical Progressive Care Unit.

Ordering and interpreting tests and evaluations for patient management.

Collaborating with consulting services on patient management.

Perform invasive procedures with appropriate credentials.

Provide cross-coverage for other service lines within the Division as needed.

Support the educational mission of the division.

Other duties assigned by the Lead Advanced Practice Provider and/or the Associate Chair for Clinical Affairs.

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite on the CU Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO.

Our over 150 faculty are located across four sites: the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, National Jewish Health, DenverHealth, and the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System.

Many seminal discoveries in pulmonary and critical care medicine occurred herein Denver, including advances in tuberculosis, interstitial lung disease, airway disease, cancer, and critical care. Many of our former trainees have taken leadership roles in academic medicine, including Division and Department Chairs, Deans, and American Thoracic Society Presidents.

We continue to enhance all aspects of our division and training program, and as a result, we have seen tremendous and sustained growth. The clinical practice sites have built new hospitals, and there are multiple new research buildings across the campuses. We have been fortunate to recruit tremendous new faculty members while retaining many of our former trainees.

Minimum Qualifications

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below.

Board certified or board eligible in pulmonary and/or critical care

Eligible or licensed in Colorado (would need to obtain CO license before working)

Certified to see adolescents and adults

Sr. Instructor

MD/DO

Board certified or board eligible in pulmonary and/or critical care

Eligible or licensed in Colorado (would need to obtain CO license before working)

Certified to see adolescents and adults

Current or past faculty appointment as a Senior Instructor in an academic medical institution

Assistant Professor

MD/DO

Board certified or board eligible in pulmonary and/or critical care

Eligible or licensed in Colorado (would need to obtain CO license before working)

Certified to see adolescents and adults

Current or past faculty appointment as an Assistant Professor in an academic medical institution

Associate Professor

MD/DO

Board certified or board eligible in pulmonary and/or critical care

Eligible or licensed in Colorado (would need to obtain CO license before working)

Certified to see adolescents and adults

Current or past faculty appointment as an Associate Professor in an academic medical institution

Preferred Qualifications

Excellent communication skills to interact with multiple medical providers and disciplines

Excellent bedside manner and physical exam skills

General Internal Medicine knowledge base

Advanced lung disease and critical illness-related specialized knowledge and skills

Pulmonary Medicine, Intensive Care, or Subspecialty background

Anticipated Pay Range

This is a fee-for-service position. Each in-house night shift is paid at a flat rate of $2,500 per shift.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non‑exempt.
