nThe Thomson-Hood Veterans Center is a skilled nursing facility that cares for the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s Veterans. Our mission is to serve Kentucky’s Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity, and providing compassionate care. We are looking for a self-motivated, energetic Nurse Aide who possesses the desire to care for Kentucky’s Veterans.
nExpectations include but are not limited to:
nnnAssist residents with personnel hygiene such as bathing, dental and oral care, and hair and nail care.
n
nnAssist residents with bowel and bladder functions by escorting to the bathroom, providing bedpan or portable commodes. Check and record intake and output flow charts.
n
nnAssist with meals and nourishment for residents requiring assistance and restorative dining.
n
nnPerform total physical care to include assisting with meals, as well as helping to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of our Veterans.
n
nnMeasure and record temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration, and height, as instructed.
n
nnCollect and label specimens for laboratory analysis.
n
nnStrong interpersonal skills

n nThis position, in Jessamine County has an approved Locality Premium of $6.96 in compliance with 101 KAR 2:034 Section 9(1).

nSPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):Must possess current registration with the Kentucky Nurse Aide Registry as administered by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services and Kentucky Board of Nursing. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
nWorking Conditions
nMay be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions that require the following of safety procedures. May occasionally encounter unpredictable patient/resident behavior.
nProbationary Period
nThis job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
