Locums - Lafayette, Indiana, OB/GYN Job

Start Date: 01/01/2027

Job Duration: Ongoing

Coverage Schedule

Monday-Thursday: 12-hour in-house shifts, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM

Friday-Sunday: 24-hour in-house shifts, 7:00 AM-7:00 AM

Primary Need: In-house call coverage

Providers willing to assist with clinic coverage are welcome due to limited outpatient access.

Typically, one midwife is on call alongside the physician.

No formal teaching responsibilities are anticipated.

Responsibilities

Manage obstetrical and gynecologic patients.

Provide Emergency Department consultations.

Provide labor and delivery coverage.

Manage admissions and inpatient care.

Assist with clinic coverage as needed.

Supervise advanced practice providers (APPs).

Patient Type: Assigned and unassigned patients

Call Ratio: 1:5

Call Type: In-house

Average Activity per 24 Hours:

1 phone consultation

10 patients seen

5 admissions

Patient Volume & Hospital Details

Approximately 1,600 deliveries annually

Average of 10 patients per shift

Approximately 5 admissions per shift, depending largely on delivery volume

Department Size: 8 beds

Trauma Level: Level III

Pediatric Trauma Level: III

EMR: Cerner

Support Staff: 6 RNs, 1 PA/NP, and 1 office staff member

The hospital serves patients from a wide geographic area.

Several surrounding counties have limited or no obstetrical services, contributing to regional demand for OB/GYN coverage.

Requirements

Board Certification: Board Certified in OB/GYN

Certification: ABLS required

License: Active Indiana license required

Additional Responsibility: Must be able to supervise APPs
