Job description
Make a meaningful impact supporting students across PreK to 8th grade in a dynamic educational environment near Kenner, LA. This full-time, onsite contract opportunity is available for an Occupational Therapist who is passionate about working in schools and eager to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including a Physical Therapist, Adapted PE specialist, and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), who is present one day a week. The assignment spans the academic year, beginning in August and continuing through late May.
Preferred experience includes working in school-based settings, assessing and implementing individualized treatment plans, and collaborating effectively with educators, families, and other therapy professionals. Comfort with a diverse student population and adaptability to evolving needs will set you up for success.
Qualifications:
Valid OT licensure for the state of Louisiana (required)
Background in pediatric or school-based occupational therapy
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to develop creative strategies to promote student engagement and independence
Experience managing functional caseloads within PreK-8th grade is a plus
Key Responsibilities: Evaluate students' needs, set appropriate therapy goals, and document progress
Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each student's abilities
Collaborate closely with PT, APE, COTA, teachers, and families to optimize outcomes
Maintain accurate records and timely documentation as required
Foster an inclusive, supportive environment for every student
