Job description

Safety & Security OfficerHighgate is a leading real estate investment and hospitality management company with over $15 billion of assets under management and a global portfolio of more than 400 hotels spanning North America, Europe, the Caribbean, and Latin America.The Safety & Security Officer plays a pivotal role in ensuring a safe, secure, and seamless environment for all guests and team members. This position is responsible for maintaining a visible security presence throughout the property, proactively identifying and addressing potential safety hazards, and upholding the brand's standards for protection and guest experience. The Officer conducts regular patrols, responds swiftly to incidents, and enforces hotel policies while delivering exceptional, service?focused communication. This role is critical to safeguarding the wellbeing, privacy, and peace of mind of everyone on property. Hotel, Resort, or Nightlife experience is required for this role.ResponsibilitiesMaintain a professional security presence throughout the property, using proper radio communication and monitoring lobby activity when not on patrol.Conduct regular property patrols to ensure all areas are secure, free of hazards, and compliant with hotel policies.Respond promptly to emergencies, including medical situations, guest disturbances, security incidents and provide First Aid/CPR when required.Support guest experience by assisting with room access, conducting escorts, and addressing safety concerns with discretion and service?focused communication.Monitor security systems, including cameras and access points; verify identification and regulate access to secured areas for authorized personnel.Investigate incidents such as accidents, property loss, theft, altercations, and guest or employee complaints; complete detailed and accurate reports.Maintain confidentiality regarding guest and employee information and uphold legal and brand standards at all times.Collaborate with Guest Services and outside agencies as needed, participating in shift briefings and ensuring smooth information flow.Manage security-related equipment, including radios, keys, and pagers, ensuring accurate inventory and documentation.QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent required; prior hotel, security, or related experience preferred.Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and respond quickly to incidents throughout the entire shift.Capable of exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, 50 lbs. frequently, and 20 lbs. continuously to lift, carry, push, or pull objects.Ability to physically deter individuals who pose a threat to guests, residents, or team members.Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage courteously and professionally with guests and employees at all levels.Excellent listening, problem?solving, and prioritization abilities in a fast?paced environment.Warm, friendly, service?driven demeanor with the ability to maintain professionalism under pressure.Ability to understand and apply detailed instructions, procedures, and information from multiple sources.Commitment to confidentiality, operational safety, and adherence to Highgate policies and grooming standards.Reliable attendance and flexibility with scheduling, including weekends, holidays, and long shifts as required.Willingness to participate in required meetings, trainings, and cross?training opportunities.Demonstrated initiative and the ability to anticipate guest and operational needs.Ability to perform additional duties as assigned by management.BenefitsWe are pleased to offer to our full-time associates a comprehensive and competitive benefits package designed to support your health, well-being, and financial future.Medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching contributionsPaid holidaysPaid vacationPaid sick leave (provided in accordance with applicable law)Employee assistance program (EAP)Educational opportunities / Tuition reimbursementPaid jury duty leave, personal leave, medical leave, and military leave in accordance with applicable law For Employees Based in Washington: 8 paid holidays per yearUp to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of servicePaid Sick & Safe Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, with up to 72 hours of unused time carried over from one anniversary year to the next. For Employees Based in California: 8 paid holidays per yearUp to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service, capped at 1.5x annual accrual rate; non-supervisory employees working in the City of Los Angeles accrue up to 22 days of Compensated Time Off, based on length of service capped at 192 hours of combined PST and CTO.Paid Sick Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, unused time is carried over from one anniversary year to the next up to a maximum of 80 hours; employees working in the City of Los Angeles are provided 40 hours of Paid Sick Time annually on their anniversary, unused time is not carried over from one anniversary year to the next.Please note that certain benefits described above for associates in Washington, Colorado, and California may vary for associates covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement ("CBA"). For such associates, eligibility for and the terms and conditions of benefits are governed by the applicable CBA and any applicable plan documents, and may differ from the benefits described above.
