Description
nThe Physician, OB/GYN examines, diagnoses and treats hospitalized and outpatient patients. The position manages patients through the continuum of hospital care by collaborating with other medical professionals including Clinical Assistants, Medical Assistants, Clerical, and Administrative staff. The position orders treatments, tests, medication and consults with other specialty physicians and primary care physician where appropriate. The position performs surgical procedures to prevent or surgically correct injury, treat disease, or abnormalities by using surgical techniques to increase patient functioning.

nnnDiagnose, treat and prevent medical conditions that affect women.
n
nnMonitor and treat patients during pregnancy and childbirth.
n
nnPrescribe medications or treatment regimens as appropriate.
n
nnOrder or interpret the results of tests such as laboratory tests and radiography and advanced imaging.
n
nnPerform surgical procedures to prevent or surgically correct injury, treat disease, or abnormalities by using surgical techniques to increase patient functioning.
n
nnRefer patients to medical specialists, social services or other professionals as appropriate.
n
nnParticipate in continuing education activities to maintain license certification and enhance knowledge skills.
n
nnDirect, coordinate, or supervise the patient care activities of nursing or support services.
n
nnWrite patient discharge summaries.
n
nnConduct discharge planning and discharge patients.
n
nnCommunicate with patients' primary care physicians upon hospital discharge to maintain continuity and quality of care.
n
nnAttend inpatient consultations in areas of specialty.
n
nnDiagnose, treat, or provide continuous care to patients.
n
nnAdmit patients for hospital stays and surgical procedures.
n
nnParticipation in Excela Health Medical Group meetings, Leadership meetings and Physician committees upon request.
n
nnWork in a modern environment including audio-dictation, EMR, and digital radiology.
n
nnOther duties as assigned.
n
n nRequired Qualifications
nnnDoctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
n
nnCompletion of OB/GYN residency program.
n
nnStrong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice.
n
nnStrong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
n
n nPreferred Qualifications
nnTwo (2) to Four (4) years’ experience in OB/GYN.
n nLicense, Certification & Clearances
nnnCurrent medical license in the state of Pennsylvania.
n
nnCertification by the American Board of Pain Medicine, or board eligible.
n
nnAct 33 with renewal
n
nnAct 34 with renewal
n
nnAct 73 FBI Clearance
n
nnCurrent DEA Registration
n
nnCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS)
n
n nSupervisory Responsibilities
nnThis position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but will serve as a leader of a medical team.
n nPosition Type/Expected Hours of Work
nnnIncumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).
n
nnTravel may be expected locally between Excela Health locations.
