About this position
COMPANY OVERVIEW
Orange Barrel Media (OBM) creates and operates iconic urban media displays that advertisers ask for by name in top U.S. markets. Since our founding in 2004, OBM has pioneered a community-oriented model of outdoor media development and is nationally recognized by cities and real estate owners alike seeking to implement premier media programs that add to the character of urban places. In the advertising community, OBM is widely recognized as the owner of the highest impact and most memorable advertising locations in the cities where it operates.
The OBM team is also a leader in smart city infrastructure, launching the Interactive Kiosk Experience (IKE) platform in concert with cities across the U.S. through the company IKE Smart City. IKE is a best-in-case public engagement platform that helps cities communicate with the public, enliven the pedestrian experience, and tell the story of their city. The core pillars of the IKE platform are public benefit and social equity, values that we seek to maximize in every IKE market to achieve city objectives and exceed community expectations.
We are a place where people are inspired to achieve success, genuinely like each other, and have endless opportunities to grow.
OBM is looking for a Product Manager to own the direction and day-to-day execution of the established internal platforms our teams and customers depend on. Reporting to the VP of Technology, you'll connect what the business needs with what our software engineers/developers build, deciding what matters most, defining what "done" looks like, and making sure each release delivers measurable value.
You’ll work alongside software engineers/developers, our UX/UI Designer, our data team, and stakeholders across the company. As new products and spin-offs take shape, your scope is expected to grow with them.
What you’ll do Serve as product owner for an established internal platform, quickly building a working knowledge of its users, history, and technical landscape so you can guide its next stage
Contribute to OBM’s long-term product vision while owning the near-term roadmap and the decisions that move it forward
Uncover customer and business needs through user conversations, stakeholder input, and insights from the data team
Prioritize the backlog with clear, well-reasoned trade-offs about what to build now, what to defer, and what not to build at all
Write clear requirements and acceptance criteria, keep them stable once work begins, and share accountability with software engineers/developers for delivering against them
Partner with the UX/UI Designer to turn business needs into validated concepts before development starts
Partner with the data team to define success metrics, instrument new features, and analyze results after launch, so roadmap decisions rest on evidence rather than assumptions
Adjust plans quickly when business priorities change, working with software engineers/developers to re-plan and keeping stakeholders informed along the way
Communicate product direction, progress, and decisions across the organization in a way that builds trust and alignment
Spot opportunities for new products and extensions, and help evaluate which ones are worth pursuing
Qualifications 5+ years of product management experience, ideally on internal tools, enterprise software, or B2B platforms
A track record of taking ownership of an existing product and improving it in measurable ways
Strong prioritization judgment and the confidence to say no, with a clear rationale behind it
Experience writing requirements and acceptance criteria that software engineers/developers find clear and actionable
A data-driven mindset and experience working with analysts or data teams to define metrics, frame the right questions, and turn findings into product decisions
Enough technical fluency to discuss architecture, constraints, and trade-offs credibly with software engineers/developers
Excellent written and verbal communication, from sprint-level detail with the team to high-level updates for leadership
Adaptability and composure when priorities shift mid-stream
Preferred Experience in advertising, media, logistics, or another operations-heavy industry
Background launching a new product from concept to release, in addition to managing established ones
Experience managing more than one product or helping a product line expand
Familiarity with agile delivery practices and GitHub
