PT - RN Nursing Lab AssistantSalary: $40.00 per hour.Summary of Function:Assist students in the nursing lab in practicing skills. Evaluate student competency related to skills demonstration. Assist nursing staff and faculty with lab-related tasks.Typical Duties:Serves students. Guides and supervises the practice of students in the nursing laboratory setting, utilizing the course material provided by nursing faculty and/or the nursing lab coordinator.Assesses the ability of students to perform assigned skills. Communicates with faculty to meet student needs, providing feedback regarding the progress or status of individual students.Maintains safety and organization of the nursing laboratory, including the proper functioning of equipment, accurate inventory of medical supplies, and reordering through the nursing laboratory coordinator as needed.Assists nursing faculty and staff with set up for student skill demonstrations or classroom/lab/simulation.Supports and participates in strategic planning initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:Bachelor of Science in Nursing3 years of experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient careCurrent, active, unencumbered Registered Nurse license in Arizona, or current, active, unencumbered compact/multistate RN license with privilege to practice as a Registered Nurse in ArizonaApplicants may indicate preferred qualifications in application materials: Master of Science in NursingExperience evaluating nursing students in skills lab or clinical settingAdditional Eligibility Requirements:Registered Nurse license must remain in good standing with the Arizona State Board of Nursing throughout employmentArizona Driver's License or EquivalentClassification:Non-ExemptPosition Type & Work Schedule:9-month Academic SchedulePart-timeUp to 19 hours per weekMonday – Thursday, may include some Fridays, evenings, or weekendsWork flexible schedule to meet the program, department, and/or institutional needs, which may include Fridays, nights, and/or weekendsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of and ability to interpret, apply, and follow college policies and proceduresKnowledge of or ability to maintain organizational structure, workflow, and operating proceduresKnowledge of nursing laboratory operations, equipment, and safety practicesKnowledge of clinical skills instruction and student learning support practicesSkill in current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications, Windows, college system platforms, software, and applications especially those specific to the department operationsSkill and ability to be self-directed and to manage one's own timeSkill in demonstrating and evaluating clinical and laboratory-based skillsAbility to complete all departmental and/or institutional mandatory training or developmentAbility to organize, prioritize, follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion, with close attention to detailAbility to work independently and contribute to a collaborative team environmentAbility to provide assistance in a professional and supportive mannerAbility to communicate effectively, verbally, in writing, and in a public setting, and to relate to others in a professional mannerAbility to maintain confidentiality of protected information and follow FERPA and privacy guidelinesAbility to demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and civility in all job-related actionsAbility to analyze problems, identify solutions, and take appropriate actions to resolve problems using independent judgment and decision-making processesAbility to provide instructional support and feedback in a laboratory learning environmentAbility to recognize and promptly report safety concerns, equipment issues, or supply needsAbility to establish and maintain positive, effective, and collaborative relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, students, and the publicWork Environment:Inside healthcare environments with normal noise and lighting levelsWork is performed in an open classroom environment with staff, students, and community contact and interruptionsWorking environment may include various locations across the service district, with varying noise levels, indoor and/or outdoor locations as needed to support program, department, or institutional needsPhysical Demands:Prolonged periods of sittingProlonged periods of standing and/or walkingMay lift, carry, push, and/or pull, at times, a minimum of 50 pounds;
