More than 2,500 team members at more than 70 Tidelands Health locations bring our healing mission to life each day.A Brief Overview The Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible for providing a full range of therapeutic services under the direct supervision of the Physical Therapist including assessment, treatment planning and therapeutic interventions in an interdisciplinary environment consistent with the position's qualification, professional practices and ethical standards. The incumbent shall also demonstrate accountability for the contribution to program development, quality improvement, problem solving, and productivity enhancement in a flexible interdisciplinary fashion. The employee may have job functions where they will handle and deliver medications based on the requirements of their job in the assigned work facility.What you will doObserve patients before, during, and after therapy, noting the patient's status and reporting it to a physical therapistHelp patients do specific exercises as part of the plan of careTreat patients using a variety of techniques, such as massage and stretchingUse devices and equipment, such as walkers, to help patientsEducate patients and family members about what to do after treatmentEducation QualificationsAssociate's Degree from an accredited therapy program and performed the required clinical internships satisfactorily RequiredSkills and AbilitiesAbility to utilize therapy equipment in an outpatient rehabilitation setting to provide treatment and proceduresLicenses and CertificationsPhysical Therapist Assistant - South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation RequiredBasic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association within 30 Days RequiredPhysical Demand Medium-Heavy Physical DemandThe intent of this job description is to provide a representative and level of the types of duties and responsibilities that will be required of positions given this title and shall not be construed as a contract for employment nor a declaration of the total of the specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position.
