Guided by our values of safety, loyalty, integrity, and respect, we are committed to delivering meaningful value for shareholders, customers, employees, and the communities where we operate.The OpportunityAssist manufacturing in maintaining required quality standards by performing in-process and final product inspections to ensure products meet customer specificationsSupport the broader manufacturing team by verifying product accuracy, identifying quality issues early, and helping prevent non-conforming product from shippingPerform inspections related to product structure, color, size, layout, and overall quality using established tools and methodsComplete daily reports, machine inspections, and required documentation to support safe, compliant, and efficient operationsA typical day includes reviewing job and combo tickets, conducting visual and physical inspections, verifying weight counts, tagging suspect product, communicating quality concerns, and releasing completed jobs to shipping when requirements are metThis role contributes to product consistency, customer satisfaction, and compliance with federal, state, company, and safety requirementsHow You Will Impact Smurfit WestrockPerform in-process and final inspections to ensure products meet job specifications and quality standardsAudit operator processes against standard operating procedures and identify deviationsVerify product integrity related to structure, color, size, layout, and cosmetic qualityIdentify suspect product and complete hold tags on affected loadsReview and interpret job tickets for quantities, selection numbers, sizes, and specifications prior to and during productionCommunicate quality questions, concerns, or issues to the Quality Assurance Manager and manufacturing leadershipCollect and visually inspect customer samples for color variance, size accuracy, and defects prior to processingComplete daily job documentation, weight count reports, and required inspection recordsPerform final inspections for specified customersWeigh completed jobs to verify product counts prior to releaseRelease completed jobs to the shipping department once quality requirements are metMaintain a clean, organized work area while following all safety and quality proceduresPerform other duties as assignedWhat You Need to SucceedAbility to stand for up to 12 hours per shiftAbility to read and write instructions and correspondenceAbility to use hands for simple and power grasping, pushing, and pullingAbility to operate a hand-operated pallet jack to move pallets of materialStrong attention to detail, particularly related to printing, cutting, and gluer quality issuesAbility to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsAbility to pass a color vision testReliable attendance requiredAbility to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodationPreferred / Desired Skills and AttributesPrior experience in a manufacturing or quality inspection environmentFamiliarity with visual inspection techniques and basic measurement toolsStrong documentation and reporting skillsAbility to communicate clearly with production and quality teamsComfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentWhat We OfferCorporate culture based on integrity, respect, accountability, and excellenceComprehensive training with numerous learning and development opportunitiesAn attractive salary reflecting skills, competencies, and potentialA career with a global packaging company where sustainability, safety, and inclusion are business drivers and foundational elements of daily workCandidates are required to undergo a drug screening after receiving a conditional job offer, but before starting employment.
