Job description
Part‑Time Night Shift Nursing Position – SDS/PACU
Position located at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. Part‑time night shift (3–9 hour shifts) on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Holiday call required. Minimum one year of ICU and/or current/previous PACU experience.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments to determine appropriate interventions and develop individualized care plans.
Provide patient and family education on care plans, medications, and self‑care strategies.
Develop, implement, and adjust personalized patient care plans based on ongoing clinical assessments.
Administer medications safely, following best practices in medication management.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, high‑quality patient care.
Provide compassionate, patient‑centered care while supporting patients and families through emotional challenges and crises.
Prioritize patient safety and strive for optimal care outcomes through evidence‑based practice.
Education & Training
Associate’s Degree in Nursing (required). Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (preferred).
Experience
Registered Nurse with 0–1 year experience (preferred 1–3 years in clinical nursing).
Licensure & Certifications
Registered Nurse, Tennessee – Tennessee Board of Nursing.
Basic Life Support – American Heart Association.
Key Skills & Abilities
Comprehensive understanding of patient care, including thorough assessments using the nursing process.
Strong knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act and the scope of practice for a Registered Nurse.
Ability to process complex clinical information using critical thinking to develop, implement, and support individualized care plans.
Effective delegation of tasks to team members, ensuring a collaborative, team‑based approach.
Familiarity with healthcare technology that enhances patient safety and care efficiency (e.g., bar code scanning, electronic health records).
Physical Demands
Medium work role; may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must be able to exert up to 50 lbs. occasionally and up to 25 lbs. frequently. Requires good balance, coordination, close visual acuity (including color, depth perception, and field of vision). Frequent invasive and non‑invasive patient contact. Exposure to patient body fluids and hazardous or poisonous materials. Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
