Job Title:** Clinical Nurse II – Nightshift
Location:** 7 West Medical Surgical Unit, UM BWMC, Glen Burnie, Maryland
Job Type:** Full Time Nights - 3 - 12hr shifts a week
Job Description:**
UM BWMC is seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinical Nurse II to join our 7 West Medical Surgical Unit on the nightshift. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients in a fast-paced medical-surgical environment, demonstrating clinical expertise, critical thinking, and compassionate patient-centered care. This role requires collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes and adherence to hospital policies and standards.
Responsibilities:**
Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients on the 7 West Medical Surgical Unit during nightshift hours, ensuring safety and comfort.
Perform thorough patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and document changes in patient conditions accurately and timely.
Administer medications, treatments, and therapies as prescribed, adhering to established protocols and safety guidelines.
Collaborate effectively with physicians, healthcare team members, and ancillary staff to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Educate patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatments, and post-discharge care to promote health and recovery.
Respond promptly to patient emergencies and provide appropriate interventions following hospital policies.
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with regulatory and institutional standards.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment.
Mentor and support junior nursing staff and assist in orienting new team members as needed.
Adhere to infection control protocols and ensure compliance with all hospital and regulatory requirements.

Job Requirements:**
Licensure & Certification:**
Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Maryland.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 1+ years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in a medical-surgical unit or similar acute care setting.
Demonstrated ability to provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with diverse medical and surgical conditions.
Skills:
Proficient in patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills to manage complex patient situations.
Ability to administer medications and treatments safely and accurately.
Skilled in the use of electronic medical records (EMR) and documentation systems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and families.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and adherence to hospital policies and procedures.
Additional Requirements:
Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
Physical ability to perform nursing duties, including lifting, standing, and moving patients as required.
