At Hilo Benioff Medical Center, a nationally recognized "Top Performing" hospital, the Registered Professional Nurse is an essential part of our team.
The Registered Professional Nurse III is responsible for independently developing and implementing nursing care plans for patients in one or more clinical services of a hospital, institution or clinic; provides nursing care treatment and educational services; may assign and direct the work of lower-level registered nurses and nursing assistants; may serve as charge nurse of a patient care unit on an assigned shift; and performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experience is credited based on a 40‑hour workweek.
EDUCATION: Graduated from an accredited school of nursing. While not required, graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor’s Degree is highly desirable.
Evidence of the appropriate training (e.g. official transcript or diploma) should be submitted with the application to be given credit for education. A legible photocopy will be accepted. However, HHSC reserves the right to request an official copy.
EXPERIENCE: One‑half (1/2) year of professional nursing work experience, where the employee independently provided nursing care to patients in a clinic, hospital, or institution.
SELECTIVE CERTIFICATION: Of the required one‑half (1/2) year of professional nursing work experience, one‑half (1/2) year of professional nursing experience working in an emergency room or critical care unit is required. The required experience must have been gained within the past two (2) years.
Possession of the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for a position. The applicant's overall experience must have been of such scope and level of responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that he/she has the ability to perform the duties of the position for which he/she is being considered.
CERTIFICATION: Basic Life Support (BLS) in Health Care Provider (adult, child and infant) is required one (1) month after employment. Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required within six months of employment.
LICENSURE: A valid State of Hawaii as a Registered Nurse is required. Evidence of licensure is required with the application.

Rates listed for paid holidays, vacation and sick days are for 1.0 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) positions assigned to 8 hour shifts. Accruals for these benefits are otherwise prorated based on FTE.

Shift Details
Must be available to work shifts, weekends and holidays as necessary based on hospital operations. Services are provided 24/7.
