Job description
A retail pharmacy opportunity is available for a licensed pharmacist to provide essential medication dispensing and patient care services at a grocery store pharmacy in Alamogordo, New Mexico. This travel contract role offers flexible assignment length starting at 13 weeks, with shorter terms considered, and involves occasional coverage at a secondary retail location nearby.
Location:
Alamogordo, NM (primary location inside a grocery store)
Secondary shifts may be required at an additional retail site within the area
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Wednesday, Friday: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Weekends generally off at primary site; occasional weekend shifts at secondary location
Key Responsibilities: Accurately prepare, review, and dispense medication orders according to regulatory standards
Maintain and update precise patient medication profiles
Supervise pharmacy technicians and oversee daily pharmacy operations
Participate in medical emergency responses as part of the pharmacy team
Conduct medication storage inspections and manage inventory, including removal of expired drugs
Assist in training and orienting new pharmacy staff
Follow strict infection control protocols in all pharmacy activities
Qualifications & Desired Experience: Active New Mexico Pharmacist License or willingness to obtain prior to start
Disclosure and verification of all current and past licenses
Minimum of one year registered pharmacist experience preferred
APhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certification required or willing to complete within 30 days
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or willing to complete within 30 days
Ability and willingness to cover shifts at a secondary location, including occasional weekends
Strong patient counseling, medication dispensing, and staff supervisory skills
Additional Details: Travel stipends provided covering housing, meals, and travel expenses
