Job description
Make a meaningful impact by providing support and advocacy for students as an onsite social worker within a school setting. This contract opportunity near Ypsilanti, MI allows you to directly contribute to student success, collaborating with educators, families, and community resources to address a wide range of social and emotional needs.
Key Qualifications:
Current certification as a School Social Worker (SSW) by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE)
Previous experience working within a school or educational environment preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, sensitive to the diverse needs of students and families
Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including teachers, counselors, and administrators
Compassionate, resourceful, and skilled at managing confidential information
Primary Responsibilities: Provide direct social work services to students, including assessments, counseling, and crisis intervention
Assist students and families in accessing helpful resources both within the school and in the broader community
Collaborate with school staff to develop and implement strategies that support students' academic and social-emotional well-being
Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with school and district policies
Participate in student support meetings, IEPs, and other multidisciplinary team efforts as required
Serve as an advocate for at-risk students and offer guidance in navigating educational and personal challenges
